Day 1: Arrival at Mandala House, checking in, dinner
Day 2: After breakfast, start of a Nordic Walking Tour on one of the most picturesque part of Hungary’s Blue Ribbon tour. Thist part of the Zemplén-mountains crosses both the blue and the red route, surrounded by fields of fruit towards the castle of Boldogkő. From the top of it you can get an amazing view of the Hernád valley and the mountains of Zemplén, but the castle itself holds many things to see too. After we leave the village and the fields, we are heading towards the Arka-stream, starting the tour’s most adventurous part in the valley of the stream. The wonderful forest track leads to a clearing, where we can have a small rest before we start on our way towards the Castle of Regéc. Despite the fact the official route of the National Blue Tour does not reach the ruins of the castle, taking a look at the ruins is an amazing experience.
We hand out walking sticks, a compass and a map for the trip, which takes around 4 hours to complete (it’s length is around 16km). Participants are welcomed with a unique homestead lunch at the Csonkás Ecofarm, with local foods straight from the owner’s kitchen. Children can enjoy a petting zoo, and also meet with the various animals around the farm (hens, ducks, cats, dogs, geese, cows). Carriage ride back to Boldogkőváralja, ending the day with a rich, homemade dinner.
Day 3: After dinner, an interesting and insightful tour about minerals and herbs lead by József Bartók at Telkibánya. The minerals collected during the trip can be forged into a medal or a mineral tree. The unique part of the trip is that József’s information filled tours are so passionate that he can easily make you think that there are not a single more exciting thing on this Earth than rocks. He is a great talker, and when it comes to nature, he can be both professional and as excited as a child, hungry for new information. After the trip, we will have a picnic dinner under the trees, earning a small rest, and finishing the day with an amazing dinner at the Mandala House.
Day 4: End of the program
